A row of beads can be both an ornament and a language of pattern. Sidai Designs began in a small Arusha workshop with five beaders, drawing on the knowledge of Maasai women in northern Tanzania. The company describes a community that has since grown to more than 120 makers, working across jewellery and home pieces. Its collections bring precise repetition into a contemporary register: fine strands beside broader cuffs, white beads interrupted by metallic details, and soft leather carrying geometric embroidery. The Sidai Centre in Arusha connects this work with visitors through a shop and beading classes. The interest lies in that continuity between a practised hand and a piece that can become part of an everyday wardrobe.
