SleepPhones: origin & history.
Wei-Shin Lai and Jason Wolfe made their first SleepPhones at the kitchen table: he soldered the electronics and she sewed the fabric. Lai wanted to listen to music after late-night work calls without the bulk of conventional headphones. Their company AcousticSheep launched in 2007 and later established a warehouse in Erie, Pennsylvania. The headband remains the defining idea, while removable speakers and wireless electronics have evolved around it. SleepPhones treats the fabric as part of the listening object, with different textiles and sizes for different preferences.

SleepPhones Wireless · Midnight Black Fleece · Medium →
SleepPhones Wireless in Midnight Black Fleece, size Medium, holds removable flat speakers and a Bluetooth module inside a soft band. The fleece is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. The current model uses Bluetooth 5.0 AAC; AcousticSheep lists up to 24 hours per full charge and approximately four hours of USB-C charging, with cable included. Actual use depends on listening conditions. Remove every electronic component before washing the headband. This option uses the maker’s box-free Eco-Friendly packaging. Choose Medium from the official circumference guide and listen at a comfortable volume.

Classic Corded — Pitch Black Breeze, Medium →
SleepPhones Classic puts slim speakers inside a soft headband, with a cable instead of a Bluetooth connection. This Pitch Black version uses the lighter Breeze fabric, a 95% polyester and 5% elastane blend. The speakers can be moved to line up with the ears, then removed before machine washing the band. A 120 cm cable ends in a 3.5 mm plug: an adapter may be needed for devices without that socket. This is the Medium size in standard retail packaging.

What catches our eye.
The useful distinction is physical: flat speakers within a washable textile band. Fit, fabric warmth and a comfortable listening volume matter more than adding another screen beside the bed.
