CH53 Footstool — Oak White Oil, Natural Paper Cord, H39

CH53 distils Hans J. Wegner’s approach to wood and weaving into a small footstool. Designed in 1966, it pairs a solid oak frame with a hand-woven natural paper-cord seat, leaving the construction and the texture of the cord in view. This 39 cm-high version uses a white-oiled oak finish for a pale, quiet appearance. It was conceived to complement the CH44 lounge chair, but its uncomplicated shape also works independently in a hallway or bedroom.
