Kettl: origin & history.
Kettl began with Zach and Minami spending two years developing relationships with Japanese tea producers. The house now works between Fukuoka, Brooklyn and Los Angeles, receiving and packing tea in Japan before sending it to its American warehouse. Its collection makes room for regional and seasonal distinctions rather than reducing Japanese tea to matcha alone. The House Roasted Chu Houjicha shows that breadth: late-season leaves from Shizuoka are gently roasted into a tea whose character comes from the transformation of the leaf, as much as its harvest.

What catches our eye.
The roasted leaf offers a different ritual from whisked matcha. We selected this houjicha for its clearly documented raw material and preparation style, while keeping tasting notes attributed to the tea house.
