Manduka: origin & history.
An architect’s attention to the ground beneath a movement: that is a useful way into Manduka. Yoga teacher and architect Peter Sterios began selling mats from his California garage in 1997. The German-made Black Mat PRO became the foundation of a collection that now includes towels, blocks, straps and bolsters. Its identity remains legible in the original object: a substantial rectangular surface, restrained colours and a small corner emblem. The selected PRO retains that direct approach, with a closed-cell surface and a six-millimetre profile.

What catches our eye.
We appreciate the PRO’s uncomplicated outline and the distinction between a regular practice mat and travel equipment. Its substantial format makes most sense when it has a regular place to live.
