Get to know Mianzi.
For Mianzi, a bamboo strip is a line that can bend, cross another line and become a structure. The studio’s founder Shashank Gautam traces his interest in simple construction to visits to his grandfather’s rickshaw repair shop. That attention to making now runs through stools, chairs and lights developed with artisans in India. The official team brings together Gautam, architect Ananta Varshney and co-founder Sugandha Varshney, spanning design, production and business development. Mianzi describes adapting tools and developing bending methods to explore the material’s possibilities. Its objects keep those decisions visible: a curved support, a woven shade, a joint that becomes part of the drawing. Rather than covering bamboo’s character, the collection uses its grain and repeated strips to give familiar household forms a more open construction.

What catches our eye.
The appeal is structural: bamboo becomes both the supporting frame and the pattern, with curved strips keeping the object visually light.
