UP5_6 Armchair and Ottoman

UP5_6 turns an armchair into a bodily sculpture. Gaetano Pesce's rounded seat is paired with a spherical ottoman connected by a cord, a deliberately unsettling contrast between an enveloping chair and the image of a ball and chain. Part of the Up family first designed in 1969, it uses moulded polyurethane foam beneath an elastic fabric cover. The photograph shows the adult armchair-and-ottoman composition; the smaller Junior model is a separate product.
