Kika Stool — Panga Panga Wood, Red Trim

Kika makes an unusually sculptural seat from two hollowed wooden volumes. Patricia Urquiola's 2009 stool is handmade by Mabeo craftspeople through a combination of lamination, turning and carving. Panga Panga wood gives the body a dark, strongly grained surface, while a painted rim outlines the opening in bright red. The contrast makes the thickness of the wood and the hollow interior easy to read. The official photograph shows the red-trim stool beside a white-trim version; this selection is one red-trim stool. Alternative wood types and custom sizes are available by request, so the chosen dimensions and finish should be confirmed with Mabeo.
