moonbird gives breathing exercises a physical rhythm. The Belgian brand makes a small handheld object that expands and contracts in the palm, with a thumb sensor and an optional app adding another way to use it.

The idea came out of a conversation between siblings Stefanie and Michael Broes: breathing exercises were easier to understand than to follow regularly, and a physical guide might make the rhythm tangible. They founded moonbird in Belgium in 2019. The resulting object is deliberately small and tactile, expanding and contracting in the hand. A sensor reads through contact with the thumb, while the app can configure exercises and show session information. The brand later introduced moonbuddy as a separate product for children. The adult moonbird keeps the original relationship between touch, a repeating movement and a quiet object that can be used without watching a screen.
