Oorjaa’s Bengaluru-based world brings material experiments into lighting for homes and larger interiors. Paper, fibres and other textured surfaces appear across different collections, with making visible in the shape and finish of a shade. Its work is most interesting when a material’s irregularities are allowed to remain part of the object. That approach also makes precise reading essential: a feather-cement pendant is not a paper lamp simply because both belong to the same studio.
