For sisters Beste and Merve Manastır, handbags were part of childhood: small pieces made from leather remnants in their father’s Istanbul workshop. They launched Manu Atelier in February 2014, bringing that family craft into their own contemporary design language. The collection plays with proportion through short handles, rounded bodies and compact silhouettes, while different leathers change the mood of a familiar form. Their father’s workshop history predates the brand itself. That distinction is part of the story: an inherited knowledge of making becomes the foundation for a new house, rather than a date borrowed from an older business.
